I provide consultation on challenging cases to individual practitioners, as well as more sustained clinical and programmatic consultation to agencies or institutions. Areas of consultation have included:
Implementing trauma-responsive programming
Using creative approaches in treatment
Working more effectively with male clients
Working with complex and single-event trauma
Addressing high-risk adolescent behaviors
Working through enactments in individual and group therapy
Establishing effective groups
Understanding and working in a culturally responsive manner with transgender and gender nonconforming young people and adults
Resolving group therapy dilemmas
Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly for White therapists wishing to become self-aware and antifragile
Drawing on my experience as a published author, editor, and editorial board member for two academic journals, I also work with therapists wishing to write and publish clinical papers, to support them in formulating and organizing their ideas, honing their manuscript, and navigating the publishing process.

Testimonial
Dr. Haen has a deep knowledge of the impacts of trauma on behavior. Under his guidance and consultation, Horizons at Sacred Heart has successfully developed community values and practices that have transformed the experiences of our staff and students—establishing the Horizons community as a place of safety, learning, connection, and growth. Dr. Haen is creative and his positive energy has led the organization through a project that has included practical solutions/tools for educators to manage student behaviors, effective staff support groups (often helping groups resolve sticky situations), and administrative support to create programming that reflects our community values. His knowledge of trauma is powerful and transformative.
