TRAUMA

People overcoming traumatic events require therapists who have special experience in, and understanding of, what they’ve been through. I am a nationally recognized expert in working with children, adolescents, and adults in the aftermath of traumatic events that have happened to them or that they’ve witnessed. My approach integrates evidence-based and innovative practices, allowing people to safely face their life experiences and work through the memories or behaviors that have them feeling “stuck” and powerless.

I’ve provided treatment for traumatic stress and dissociation, and have supervised therapists providing these services, for over 2 decades. I’ve trained clinicians internationally in trauma work, direct a training program in trauma treatment, and have published extensively on the topic. I have intervened in schools, churches, community centers, and businesses following violence, suicide, and other tragedies. I have also provided training for crisis teams in responding to mass trauma events in a variety of settings.

I have successfully treated people who have experienced the following:

Physical and emotional abuse
Sexual abuse
Hate crimes
School shootings
Bullying
Combat trauma
Frontline exposure for uniformed services personnel
Domestic violence
Rape
Torture
Witnessing violence or tragic death
Motor vehicle accidents
Chronic trauma and/or emotional deprivation
Mass disaster and terrorism
The traumas of everyday living
