CHILDREN

I work collaboratively with schools, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and other providers to assist children and families. An important part of this process is parent consultation to address your fears and to think together about handling those moments that have you stumped, without judgment.

I have worked with children and their parents around many common (and uncommon) childhood problems and disorders. I have a strong foundation in play therapy, creative arts therapies, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy, and draw on these approaches to determine the best course of treatment for the problems at hand. Some children change by virtue of having a safe space in which to work out their problems in the presence of a trusted adult, while others need structured plans to motivate and guide them (and their parents) on working through a symptom or behavior outside of session.

Problem areas I have treated successfully:

Witnessing or experiencing Trauma
Loss (resulting from death, illness, or other life changes)
Confusion or discontent related to gender expression or identity
Sibling issues, including siblings of kids with special needs
Behavior problems at home and at school
Anxiety about transitions
Issues of attachment
Nightmares and other fears
Coping with medical conditions
Neurodevelopment Disorders
Social Anxiety
